After fourteen editions across multiple continents, the International Women’s Worlds Congress is now preparing to hold its XV edition in Euskal Herria from 20 to 24 May 2026, under the theme Women* and Peaces. For five days, Gernika-Lumo and Bilbao will host participants from around the world. In a global context marked by violence, securitization and war-driven narratives, the Congress highlights the power of bringing women* together to imagine, cultivate and enact new forms of peace.
The event is organized by Gernika Gogoratuz and Gernikatik Mundura, the result of a collective process involving feminist and pacifist organizations from Euskal Herria, Colombia and Mozambique.
This XV edition opens its call for proposals from 17 November until 1 February. The invitation is addressed to women*, collectives, grassroots organizations, activists, researchers, students, artists and communities from around the world. Proposals may take multiple formats—panels, workshops, artistic actions or other creative experiences—and should engage with the Congress’s eight thematic areas. Check out the guidelines and terms of reference on the website, available in multiple languages.
The call for anyone wishing to attend without submitting a proposal will open on 1 February 2026. To stay updated, follow the Congress on social media.
